Characteristics Of Healthy Family Relationships
Some great writer once said something along the lines that all family unhappiness differs but happy families are all much the same. As a family counselor I believe I can tell you what the qualities are that characterize happy families. All happy families are loud! Everyone has his or her say vociferously and continuously. No one hides an opinion or a thought. Jokes and tears abound. Every member of the family is an individual. Everyone knows who hates apples and who loves peaches. Their differences are respected and catered. And everyone shares the work and pleasures involved in family life. Doing chores and helping each other is mandatory - and so is enjoying a weekly family sit-down lunch, where everyone finds out from everyone else what they have been doing and what they think. A healthy family is the essence of good community.
