Should Cell Phone Usage Ever be Allowed on Flights?

On every flight you’ve ever taken, you’ve been told cell phone use is not permitted as it may interfere with the aircraft’s electronic devices. If you’re like most people, you probably just take it for granted that this makes sense. If cell phones could possibly interfere with Aircraft Alarm and Signal Systems Avionics or some other avionics component, we accept that they shouldn’t be used. But what if they didn’t?

Would you want someone next to you on an overseas flight using their cell phone the entire time? Whether or not cell phones might interfere with Antenna Frequency Avionics Devices or some other systems might make no difference as technologies advance. When issues such as potential cell phone interference with Headsets, Microphones and Speakers Avionics become obsolete, what will stop airlines from allowing their use?

Cell phone usage on flights has the potential to be extremely irritating to passengers, and flights are often stressful enough as it is. Air control regulation agencies such as the FAA will need to agree to allow their use before it is allowed, but if they do it could be up to the airlines to decide what flights will allow calls and what restrictions will be enforced.
